I recently discovered this guy on TikTok who is even more of a coffee guy than I am. I can scroll for a long time listening to him talk about $1500 manual grinders, the differences between the Long Black and the Americano and seeing the expression on his face as he blames an espresso equipment manufacturer for climate change.

not only serves probably my favorite coffee in Huntsville (that I don't make, I guess), they also have this Nutella Waffle that is (fair warning) a little addictive. It is, according to the picture, also: Gracie-Approved!

located in between Preservation Company and Holtz Leather is suddenly the best thing that has happened to Huntsville recently: L'Etoile Patisserie, which is French for “I had their chocolate éclair and life seemed okay again.” Don't ask questions…just go, and thank me later.

☕ Piper & Leaf Coffee???
We can discover this one together! I have not yet made a pilgrimage out to Lacey’s Spring to enjoy P&L’s new retail location, but having been a fan of the company for a long time, I am excited to drop in sometime soon. Coffee from a tea company? Yes! While they focus on tea, their real focus is creativity and excellence, so whatever they create is worth trying.
My daily routine: Coffee and Paint (not at the same time usually)
Every morning I get up early and make coffee (these days I have been using the pour-over method) and then I wake up Gracie with the lure of hot coffee to entice her to get out of the warm bed (which usually works). Then I get the kiddos up for school, putter around with some projects, then head into work.
Most of you know I paint for a living. Best career decision I have made was moving from project managing remodels, which I did for about 2 decades, to hands on painting. I love it and it let's me listen to a ton of books, lectures and podcasts*, as well as focusing on the high quality painting I enjoy doing.
When I started painting, I immediately nerded-out on tools and organization (which is a trend in my life) and while I might have kinda overdone it, it makes doing what I want to do easier and more enjoyable. This is the result:
