David Clark
One painter. One house at a time.
When I was a boy growing up on my family farm, my dad taught me to paint. He taught me what he had learned from his uncle, who was a professional painter.
There was always something to paint around the farm, and as I grew up, I worked for my dad in his home remodeling company, which allowed me to hone my skills further. For most of my career, I have owned my own remodeling company, but have focused exclusively on interior and exterior painting since September of 2020, and have been thoroughly enjoying myself ever since. I am one of those “strange” people who actually really like to paint, and enjoy the quality control and detailing part of painting and watching a room or a house transform right under my paint brush and roller.

As a one-man show, you will be getting my personal attention from start to finish of each project.
What I do
Walls · Ceiling · Trim
Patched, mudded, sanded, painted.
Right-sized exterior work.
Protect it. Make it look new.
Clean slate, every surface.
Flexible both ways
A rough picture of my weeks, not a promise. Your actual days are set together once the contract is signed.
I am dedicated to doing quality work on the jobs I already have. That means I cannot know weeks out exactly when one of them will finish, because it takes however long it takes. What you can count on is that I keep talking to you while the schedule stays a little flexible.
So here is how I handle it. When we sign, I tell you about how far out I am. A week or two before, I give you an approximate day to start. Then several days out we stay in text contact as the day gets close, so you always know when I am going to show up.
And it goes both ways. If you need to bump me to Monday because the floors are not done or your mother-in-law decides to stay an extra day, that is fine — tell me and I will work around it. I count on the same from you when something moves on my end.
Four true things

You know exactly who is going to be in your house. I don’t make the sale and then send out a crew of people you don’t know. From the first conversation, to the day I show up, to the walk-through at the end when you write the final check, it is me.
I won’t schedule to be there then not show up without communicating with you. I also won’t show up unexpectedly on your doorstep ready to work. I typically let you know a few days before I start, then call or text when I am heading your direction, and I keep you posted as the job goes. You can always reach out with a question — I am a text message away.
I enjoy paying attention to details. I’ve been that way since I was a boy. I like straight lines and consistent finishes. I don’t try to be the cheapest because I really like doing quality work. Keeping the job clean and organized and doing it well is as much for me as it is for you.
Most of the people I work for are repeat customers, or they heard good things from somebody I painted for. There are references you can call. When someone recommends me, they know exactly who they are recommending to a friend, and who will show up at their friend’s house.
Where I work
I am based in Gurley. Most of what I paint is in the Huntsville area, and most of that sits inside about fifteen minutes of the Sherwin-Williams on 431 in Hampton Cove.

How I work
I like an organized job, and your house stays organized while I am working in it. It is quieter, it is cleaner, and I get more done.

How a job goes
You reach out and tell me about the painting project you want done. That first conversation is how the two of us work out whether I am a good fit for it. Once we both think it could be, we set up the first look.
We schedule a time for me to come out and take a look at the job with you. I take dimensions, take some pictures, and listen to what you are picturing for the room.
I take what I gathered and work up a detailed bid, broken out by room and by the parts of the job, depending on the specifics. I put it together and email it to you.
Once the bid is signed and I have the down payment, I put you on my schedule. I give you an honest idea of where you sit in line and roughly when I can get started, and then I keep you posted as the time gets closer.
About a week out I will text you a projected day. I will not schedule to be there and then not show up without telling you, and I will not turn up unexpectedly on your doorstep ready to work either.
Move what needs moving. Cover the floors. Fill and caulk. Take off the plate covers and the hardware. When I am painting all of those surfaces, the order is wall prep, then trim, then ceiling, then walls. I tidy up at the end of every day and leave it broom clean at the end of the job. If you want to know how it is going, ask me — I am right there.
Half down when we sign. The other half as the work gets done, which on a job under a week means at the finish, and on a longer job means each week you pay for what I finished that week.
We walk it together at the end and I do any touch-up it needs. I take the final payment and get cleaned up, and I send you your color record, so the next time somebody needs to match a wall, you have it written down.
What you keep when I leave
When I finish, you receive a document with every color I painted for you — the room, the surface, the color, the product and the sheen. Years from now, when a doorframe gets scuffed or you want to match a wall, you do not have to guess or scrape a chip off and hope.
